Powerful Prayers Can Be Short Prayers
Here are some examples of short, powerful prayers I pray over my children.
1. Lord Jesus, help me acknowledge that my children are ultimately yours. You have entrusted them to my care for a season of their lives. You knit them together and gave them their personalities, passions and purposes. You are aware of their sin nature and have made a way to pay the penalty for it, and You give them power to overcome it, through Your resurrection. It is not my job to make them sinless. It is my job to teach them your truth and model a life of faith and trust in You.
2.Help me to rest in confidence that you are even able to use our own sinfulness and selfishness to point my children to their need for a Savior.
3. Help me to develop strong relationships with my children and give me the ability to see the deep needs within my child’s heart.
4. Lord Jesus, how we thank you for the uniqueness of our children. We thank you for how they are like us and how they are different. I thank You that You chose me to be their mother. I thank you that you have a plan and a purpose for their life. That You know the very number of h
airs upon their head and that Your plan for them is good. I thank You that You know their name and You are at work in their life.
5. Keep my children pure for their potential or current spouse and fill them with joy in all of their relationships. Reveal Yourself to them to they may grow to love You more deeply. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit and grant them self–control. Give them wisdom and may they find favor with You and with man.
Prayers of Protection
We bring our children before You now, LORD, and ask You to bless them. I ask that You keep their feet upon a firm path, that you bring others alongside of them to teach them Your ways and direct them toward Your will for their lives. I ask that You would give them an undivided heart that seeks You and longs to serve You. Protect them from the evil one and his schemes. Keep them from temptation. Surround them with good friends who will encourage them to be people of integrity and kindness.
