Most of us have a vision for our lives — for our family. We have plans to move everybody forward toward the outcomes we so desperately desire.
We know what we want our children and grandchildren to be like, how we desire our career to unfold, or our hopes for our marriage relationship to feel.Â
What if I told you your plans to move forward are actually holding you back?
God’s Visionary Hopes
God said to His people in Isaiah 48:11:
I will not let my reputation be tarnished,
and I will not share my glory with idols!
God with not share the glory of our successes alongside our own scheming.
God will not share the glory of our salvation alongside all of our striving.
Does this mean we rest in the Elysian laurels while a mountain of vision beckons? Certainly not! It does mean however, we must be sure we are climbing the mountain of God. Otherwise all of that difficult trekking only causes us to arrive at a lesser vision than the one God intended to give us.
What Derails Us?
So why do we get derailed from God’s vision for our lives? Oftentimes, we choose our own path. We insist our own scheming and striving must be part of the equation. We seek equipment over the Equipper. We seek encouragement over conviction. We won’t sit still long enough gaining direction
to ensure we are climbing the Mountain of God.
After doubt, confusion, and too long of a time of waiting, Peter decided to return to fishing. He got it half right. Jesus showed up and told him, “Ah, yes, Peter! Indeed, you shall fish! But for men!”. We are a lot like Peter. We don’t want to sit around and wait. We have an idea of what to do and we want to get busy. But we only get the checklist half right.
Catching God’s Vision
In my upcoming webinar, we’ll talk about Visionary Hope and what it means to lead others toward God’s Vision. We’ll make sure we are climbing the mountain of God.
Because on this trek we won’t continually wonder why so many appear ahead of us on the climb. Nor compare someone else’s progress with our own. We will stop worrying that one slip of the foot will cause us to stumble backwards losing hard-gained ground. Instead, we’ll be transformed. Like Peter. And we’ll be bold and brave and sure-footed. Because we know we are on the right path. The path to move forward with nothing able to hold us back.
As we learn more about Transformational Leadership, we can watch our dreams become reality as we allow the power of Christ to lead us.

All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the LORD has blessed.
